Today is inauguration day. The new president and vice president were sworn in around noon. I personally am not particularly excited about the leadership transition. However, I am glad the last president is gone. The reason I am glad he is gone? He seemed to awaken prejudices and hatred most Americans hoped were behind us. I have said many times that, if the previous president had been able to shut his mouth, and, stayed off of Twitter, he might have gone down in history as one of the best leaders in history.
I understand why Christians backed the last president in spite of what I considered despicable behavior. Many believe he was fulfilling prophecy or moving prophecy forward. And he may very well have been. God has used unlikely men in the past to accomplish his will. I’m sorry. All I could see was his behavior and the feelings of hate and anger that he brought out in people. He divided the country. He caused us great pain in my opinion. I did not see him as a leader of anything except hatred, deceit, division. Any good he did for the country (and he did do some good things), is clouded by his behavior. I think it cost him his second term in office.
We can thank him for bringing to the surface something that has obviously festered for many years. We still have a huge problem with racial discrimination. Of course, black people feel that we have not been getting a fair shake in this country. The same is true about other minorities. However, I think some white people have legitimate reasons for feeling like they haven’t gotten a fair shake either. There are plenty of poor people among white Americans. These things need to be acknowledged and addressed before we can begin to heal as a nation.
I know that the democrats are quite liberal and believe in, and, push lots of policies that go against biblical principles. On the other hand, some policies and laws that conservatives and Christians would like to pass seem to try to force people to live a certain way of life. Clearly, you can not legislate morality. If we want the nation to live more like the Christian nation we believe we are, we need to do a better job of delivering the Gospel of Jesus, and, depend on the Holy Spirit to make changes in the hearts of Americans. Morality can not be forced. If it could, then God’s law would have been enough.
“Is there a conflict, then, between God’s law and God’s promises? Absolutely not! If the law could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying it. But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.”
GALATIANS 3:21-22
I do happen to believe prophecy is unfolding. And if God was using the last president for his purposes, He can use anyone. I voted my conscience. It is my right as an American citizen. You voted according to your conscience, and that is your right as an American citizen. We have to work together if we are going to accomplish anything. If we really are a Christian nation, then, lets pray.
We have a Savior. His name is Yeshua (Jesus). God’s Christ (Anointed One). This is His creation, His world. He is able to accomplish in all of us His purpose. He gave Himself (sacrificed) in order to save us. HE WILL NOT FAIL!
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
JOHN 3;16-17
It’s a new year. Let’s pray more. Give more. Love more. Forgive more. Our lives depend on it. Look beyond the leadership of man on this planet. Look higher. God is still with us and every other nation on the earth. They (God) are working to save the WHOLE WORLD.
