So, for a month now, I have been driving for Uber. The first 4 days that I did it I was surprised at how much money I was able to earn driving my car. And I have met some very nice, and, interesting people in the process.

I signed up to drive Uber last year sometime, but, I didn’t follow through because I had heard some horror stories, both about Uber riders and Uber drivers. I ended up letting fear keep me from even trying.

So far I have met nothing but nice people. Not all of them talk my ear off, or leave compliments, or big tips, but they have all been nice.

I have been surprised at how much there is to talk to total strangers about. I have found that I have a lot in common with a lot of people. There are a lot of people who love their kids like I do, and pray for them as much as I pray for mine.

I have found that a lot of people have the same struggles with money, though on different levels.

The main things that I have discovered? People need Uber (and Lyft). I have been surprised by how many people use the app. It’s not just the young, but the older generation as well. People really do need the service.

People have expressed that taxi cabs are unreliable and costly. I’m thinking to myself, “Uber is expensive!” Then again, I have not ridden in a taxi cab since the 1990s. People love it, depend on it, and I don’t mind doing it.

It is a great way to earn some extra cash to pay off some bills, do some saving for that toy I can’t afford right now. For me, that a new motorcycle. I have had my current bike for almost 12 years. I need something a little bigger. I will probably get a Harley-Davidson or an Indian. Don’t know which one. They both make great bikes. I have plenty of time to decide though.
