Today would have been my dad’s 88th birthday. When we lose loved ones, we can’t help but wonder about where they are now. I don’t think there is a single human that doesn’t sense that something of us lives on after our bodies die. Those who say they don’t feel it are lying to themselves.

Over the last 16 years or so, I have come to believe that there is no hell in the sense that we have been taught in the last 100+ years. I do believe that there is a period of correction for some, maybe all. After all, who of us has lived a perfect. life. Our sins are forgiven, but we still have to learn to live who we are in Christ. That period of correction is not for all eternity. Correction is not punishment. It is redemptive. I don’t believe God intends simply to make people suffer endlessly. I believe every one of us will willingly change our minds about who God is, and who we are in Christ. We are the children of the living God. Not coerced. We will see and accept who and what God says we are at some point.

My dad was not perfect. Like all of us, he could be down right honorary. I expect to go through a period of correction. Call it judgment, if you will. But, God has judged and accepted us in Christ. So, I’m not afraid because I trust our Father. I learned that from the first born, Jesus. He revealed who the Father is during His life on earth.

So, I look forward to seeing not only my dad, but all of my relatives and friends and ancestors who have gone on before me. That’s right. I believe every person ever born is redeemed regardless of what their misdeeds have been. Our loving Father knows how to train his children and He has eternity to accomplish his goals. Love cannot fail.
