It is 2016. I have been a Christian in search of the truth for more years than I have been alive. Most of that time, however, I have been hearing about the end times. I was taught to expect the “rapture” at any moment. It seemed to be the only “truth” that anyone was focused on. I am now 52 years old and not much has changed. I am still searching for truth.

I am more aware of the political landscape though, which has changed drastically in the last 30 or so years. One thing that is noticeably different than when I was a kid is the fact that Islamic and Muslim nations seem to be trying to exert their rule and influence over the West and our way of life. It is a real and present problem. And if you say anything, or speak out about it, somehow you are a bigot or racist. It is called political correctness, the fear of saying what is actually on our minds because we might offend someone. It will be our undoing.

Truth of Political Correctness

I don’t understand politics and I have never really wanted to. I am beginning to understand truth though. And I would like to think that I recognize truth when I see and hear it. That’s not saying that I understand religion. I think religion is part of the problem, whether it be a Muslim, Christian, or Jewish. The truth, I believe, begins with God. He is the truth, the way, and the life that all men need. And I don’t think you can find this truth in it’s whole within any religion. You can only find it in the Lord, Jesus.

The Truth About God

I do believe Jesus is the Son of God. I believe that in Him all of the human race exists. I believe that it is Jesus the Christ who will eventually heal all the hearts of all men and women; heal this earth that we live on, and restore us to our intended life and purpose as the children of God.

Right now though, I feel tired of waiting. I am tired of the conflicts. I am tired of violence, of murder, rape, and theft. I am tired of the temptations. I am tired feeling anger and sometimes hatred in my own heart.

The apostle John says that God is love. (1John 4:7)

The Apostle Paul describes love this way:
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1Corinthians 13:4-7)

I believe this is who God is, and, for humans to act in any way contrary to this in the name of God is, well, a lie. If you believe God condones violence, rape, murder, theft, or any other crime for any reason, YOU NEED A NEW GOD! You lack understanding. You have misinterpreted.

If you are a believer there should be something happening in your heart, and it should not be hatred or violence. We become what we believe God to be. The full verse from 1John 4 says this:

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love (1John 4:7-8)

That’s all I have to say for today.
