A scripture kept coming to mind as I was praying for some health needs of a few of my friends.
For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (Romans 8: 36-37)
The scripture goes on to say that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. We are here in the earth for a time. Those of us who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ will be attacked by the devil, the effects of sin, sickness and other difficulties including death, but, in all of these things we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who gave his life in order that we might have life, and have it in abundance.
I believe God. I believe that in Christ we have all the healing of the body we need. I believe death is swallowed up in life. In Christ, sickness is swallowed up in health and all of this comes from the life of Jesus Christ that indwells the believer. The word of God says this about it:
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you. (Romans 8:10-11)
Many of us don’t believe that God will heal us. And we base that on our own performance. Many Christians, including myself, mistakenly believe that God deals with us based on how we perform in this life. We believe that in order to be blessed in this life we must obey God’s laws, after all the bible says, “be ye holy for I am holy.” (1Pet 1) But what we don’t realize is that we can’t find life in the law. The law condemns us. The more we try to live by the law the more we fail. (Romans 7-8) But when we receive the Grace of God in Jesus Christ we realize that the righteous requirements of the law have been satisfied and we are given life freely, in Christ. (Romans 8)
How God sees us or, his willingness to bless us, is not based on our performance but, it is based on what Jesus did for us on the cross. And our faith in what Jesus did on the cross is what gives us access into this grace. Our every sin has been dealt with. Every reason for us not to be blessed and full of life that the devil could think of has been done away with on the cross. If you read Colossians you’ll find that God has nailed the law to the cross, effectively disarming sin and the devil. This is grace! And God is very rich in this Grace. There is no limit to what He can give us in Grace. Jesus is this Grace that I speak about.
I don’t understand it all. I have been a Christian for over 24 years and I am just now becoming aware of this tremendous gift that the Lord God has given me. I have never been so excited in my life. Because in the Grace of God you and I can receive healing; you and I can receive blessings. You and I can receive all that God has to give us because it has nothing to do with our performance in this life. All we have to do is believe (faith) and receive the gift of God; the blessings, the healing, the very righteousness of God. I haven’t been this excited about my life in Christ since I first believed in Him. This is the great mystery that Paul talks about in Ephesians, GOD LIVES IN ME! He is my life. I don’t mean that He is at the top of my priority list in life (He is). I mean He IS my life.
I have been crucified with Christ;it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Gal 2:20)
Praises to you Jesus!!!!
