I am from Texas. I never knew that Houston was vulnerable to such flood. Currently, they are being pounded by rain brought by Tropical Storm Harvey. The flooding seems to have happened suddenly and caught the city by surprise. It’s the same kind of surprising destruction that happened in New Orleans in 2005 with Hurricane Katrina.

My family in Baytown, Texas have for the most part reported that they are safe. My dad’s house has suffered some roof damage. My niece’s home has some flood damage. And Houston, of course, seems to be mostly under water.

The pictures are surprising and upsetting to see. Some of the coastal towns including Corpus Christi and surrounding areas were devastated by the hurricane itself.

I pray that the rain stops soon so that Texas may begin the rebuilding, and people can get their lives back. I feel helpless here in SC. I wish I could be there to help in some way. I will continue to be praying for Texas.
