This is the premise of the gospel: human beings fail. We all fall short. None of us is perfect, none of us is righteous in and of ourselves, none of us is good enough to do everything right all the time. Our sin natures (the flesh) have set us up for failure. God knows this about us. He understands how we got this way. And because he loves us, he wholeheartedly welcomes us back into the security of His love.
