Today I encountered a man who was asking for money to get gas for his vehicle. I told him I didn’t have any cash. He was persistent and asked if could take him over to the filling station and use a credit card to put some gas is his gas can. He and his wife had been stranded for about three hours. So I took him. The first place we went didn’t take credit cards (actually the card swiper wasn’t working). So we went to another station about a mile down the road. We got the gas and headed on back to his vehicle.
While we road we talked about the Lord and his return. We both agreed that He would be returning soon. I asked him if he thought the church would be taken before the “great tribulation” or after? Again we both agreed that it would be some time during.
We talked about the lack of willingness of people today to help someone in need. It seems that in the past people were more willing to help a stranger in need. Seems those days are long gone. In the three hours he and his wife waited, he had asked several people for help and was turned down. He said one man held a wad of cash in his hand making sure he saw it as he turned him down. What kind of mean spirit is that?
As I write this I am reminded of a scripture from Hebrews that says,
“Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” (Hebrews 13:1-2)
Jesus In Matthew 24 says that the love of many will wax cold in the last days because of iniquity. (Matt 24:12) It seems that we are definitely seeing some of this now.
Obey God’s Word. This Is Called Faith
How are we as Christians supposed to function in this time of financial difficulty and what may be the last days? With so many tv “profits” on the air telling people to send money to “god,” many people have sent in money expecting God to make them rich or something to that effect. Many have been fooled in this area and as a result are afraid to trust the principles of God. The principles laid out in the word of Gods are sound. To me, they all boil down to this one thing that Jesus said,
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (Matt 7:12)
Think of it as planting a seed in people for what for the way you would want to be dealt with in life. The principle of giving among other things works in the same way. Jesus said in Luke chap six,
Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:37-38)
Believers are to live by faith. That is the only way we will survive in difficult financial times and the last days. Give, do, forgive! Are these the things you want to be manifested and coming your way. Then do as Jesus says and give to, do for, and forgive the people around you, and, it will be given, done for you, and you will find mercy. If not from people, certainly from the Lord. You can trust Him and his Word.
