The election is over. The President has been in office for nearly 2 weeks now, and people still can’t stop the name calling and insults. I understand if you don’t agree with some of the decisions the President makes and if you want to protest that’s okay. However, to still be angry that Trump actually won the election is useless. For the record, I did not vote for him.
He IS the President. For those of us who pray, let us pray. And those of us who prefer other measures, we should do all that is legally possible to make our voices heard.
I came across a verse years ago in the book of Romans.
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God (Rom 13:1).
So according to this verse, he may be anointed to his position. This does not speak to the character of the man or make him a believer by any means (though he could be). This verse has helped me to be at peace with whoever is in positions of authority, including the officers over me in the Navy, and the President. No matter how you feel, Donald Trump is the President.
If you aren’t happy, there is another election in 4 years. Encourage people you know to get out and vote (no matter what party affiliation). The number of people who did not vote this time around is staggering.
There is no reason to be disrespectful to the President, even when he may be disrespectful at times himself. For me, the bottom line is, God is in control. Other than the fact that people voted for him, I don’t know why Trump would be God’s choice. We’ll just have to wait and see. But I am, and ever will be, a believer in the Lord. I trust Him.
